The Winnipeg Goldeyes are members of the American Association of Baseball, a professional baseball league with teams from the United States and Canada. The Goldeyes cemented themselves as a force in the league, taking home the hardware as league champions in both 2016 and 2017.
The Winnipeg Goldeyes’ fan base is quite diverse in age and the team markets itself to a variety of groups, such as young professionals, youth sports teams, families and businesses. For the 2018 season, the Goldeyes were looking to provide their younger fans with exciting new social media content that they could utilize in the ballpark.
EveryStudio brought the Goldeyes’ mascot, Goldie, to life in the form of a Snapchat World Lens. Keeping with the baseball theme, EveryStudio applied a bobblehead animation to the 3D mascot, which activates when users tap the screen. Sounds of the crack of the baseball on the bat and fans cheering were overlaid, tying together the visuals with ballpark themed audio. The Goldeyes have pushed the World Lens to their followers via social media, allowing their fans to apply the mascot to their photos and videos, anytime, anywhere.
